How is such a sport event possible regarding the COVID-19 restrictions?
The fitness challenge is a virtual event, in which all students participate individually and remotely. The distances are tracked via an App, allowing us to stick to all ordinances on protection against COVID-19 infection risks.
Do I have to pay?
No, there is no participation fee. But an integral part of our fitness challenge is that once 1,200 kms are achieved by the participants, donations from our respective sponsors will be directed to the two Leipzig-based social organizations Pandechaion e.V. Waldstraße and Kinderhospiz Bärenherz Leipzig e.V. Voluntary donations from participants are welcomed.
Who else can donate?
Voluntary donations from everyone are welcomed as they will be funneled to 100% to the two organizations and their respective projects.
The proceeds will go to Pandechaion e.V. Waldstraße, an accommodation for refugees, and Kinderhospiz Bärenherz Leipzig e.V., a children’s hospice that accommodates families with seriously ill children.
Once I register what happens next?
You will receive further instructions and reminders regarding the start of the challenge via mail. You can also stay tuned via our website and social media channels.
Am I restricted to only running?
No, you are free to walk, run, cycle or skate. You are asked to record your distance through your preferrable fitness track app and send us your distance to email@example.com after each activity.
What should be included in the email?
Your email should include a screenshot from the App showing the distance as well as your average pace. Also, you should mention your name, business school, and program in your message.
Can I send all the track records on the final day, or should I update it daily?
We ask you to send the activity to us directly after tracking. We can only count your distances if your screenshot is sent on the SAME day of your activity and if it includes the da of the activity, your distance and the mode of activity (i.e., walking, cycling, etc.)
How are the points calculated?
Every kilometer achieved by walking or running is counted as 1 kilometer. Every kilometer achieved by cycling or skating is counted as 0.5 kilometer. Only actively collected kilometers in start-stop-workouts count (i.e., results from daily step counters are not accepted)
